This AS/NZS ISO 9001 audit checklist:
An essential part of the AS/NZS ISO 9001, quality management systems standard is that an organization conducts internal audits at planned intervals.
The purpose of these risk-based audits is to provide information as to whether the quality management system and products and services meet the requirements of the AS/NZS ISO 9001 standard, its own quality management system and whether it is effectively implemented and maintained.
This audit checklist encompasses all the requirements of the standard for AS/NZS ISO 9001 quality management systems, section 4.0 through to section 10.0 inclusive of:
The audit checklist’s rating system is graded from conformance to non-conformance, to convey a concise and consistent methodology for scoring each of the audit criteria.
There are also provisions within the audit checklist for the identification of opportunities for improvement, which can effectively contribute to the essential continual improvement processes of the AS/NZS ISO 9001 quality management systems standard.
Under section 9.2 of the AS/NZS ISO 9001 standard an organization must conduct internal audits to provide information on whether the organization conforms:
Internal audits should be conducted at planned intervals to determine the status and importance of each process that comprises of the quality management system. The internal audit frequency should be based upon process performance trends, results from previous audits, levels of customer satisfaction, rates of non-conformity and corrective actions.
This can ensure that the organization focuses on the aspects that affect product and process conformity and design and development the most. Once completed an internal audit report can also serve as ‘retained documented information’ as evidence of effective implementation of an audit program.
The QMS AS/NZS ISO 9001 internal audit checklist’s intention is to provide assurance to top management that risks to the organization’s objectives are being (or will be) managed and controlled.
The audit findings shall also enable any required corrective actions to the AS/NZS ISO 9001 quality management system and associated internal audit processes to be communicated to the relevant parties.
